Church in Mongolia saved from eviction after Becket Fund intervention

 

A small church in Mongolia that tends mostly to poor families and children resumed services after enduring months of government harassment and threats of eviction. The government reversed its position after it received letters from The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty and from US Congressman Joseph Pitts. 
 
“We are glad that the national government has brought local officials in line with the guarantees of religious freedom in the Mongolian Constitution and international law,” said Luke Goodrich, Deputy Litigation Director at The Becket Fund.

The envelope please! And the 2009 Ebenezer award goes to…Kokomo, Indiana County Courthouse, whose holiday display consisted of a Loch Ness Monster, a woodpecker and a fire truck, and showed no symbol of any known holiday being celebrated anywhere in the world this December.
 
Every year, The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty in Washington, D.C. bestows the Ebenezer award on the silliest affront to the Christmas and Hanukkah holidays.
