Cara Allen

Before joining Becket in 2026 as a Government Affairs and Communications Fellow, Cara graduated with highest distinction from UNC Chapel Hill with a degree in Political Science. With a focus on political theory and philosophy, Cara was one of the first three graduates from the School of Civic Life and Leadership at UNC. She also previously served as SGA President at Cape Fear Community College.

Cara’s interest in law was first sparked at age 13. She has since tested that interest through experience at the New Hanover County District Attorney’s Office and as a family law legal assistant. She is also an alumna of the Hudson Political Studies program, which led her to D.C.

Originally from Wilmington, North Carolina, Cara loves spending time at the beach, reading and discussing classic literature, baking, long walks, and learning to play guitar.
