Jorge Hagedorn
Jorge Hagedorn joined Becket as a Legal Fellow in 2025. His work at Becket includes assisting the legal team with substantive legal work and training on the legal and historical foundations of religious liberty for all.
Jorge is a Chilean lawyer licensed by the Supreme Court since 2022. He earned his law degree from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and graduated with the highest honors from the Master’s in Political Studies at Los Andes University in Chile. Most recently, he completed his LL.M. in International Human Rights Law at the University of Notre Dame, where he was a Rita Bahr Memorial Scholar, recipient of the Award of Excellence in Jurisprudence: Foundations of Human Rights, and graduated cum laude.
Jorge began his career at a think tank inspired by the social doctrine of the Catholic Church. He later served as a Legal Advisor in Chile’s first constitutional drafting process, where he defended fundamental rights such as religious freedom and freedom of speech. He subsequently worked in the Chilean Senate, focusing on constitutional reforms and labor law. In addition to his legal practice, Jorge teaches Political Law and Constitutional Law in Chile. His goal is to strengthen his legal expertise to better advocate for the causes he is passionate about in Chile and beyond.
On weekends, Jorge enjoys watching soccer, tennis, and football, as well as exploring nature or city walks with his wife.
